If there’s one beverage that tends to unite people around the world it’s coffee.
What’s not to love about it?
It wakes you up. It helps you to think more clearly. It speeds up your metabolism. It’s packed with antioxidants. The list goes on and on.
There are so many good things to love about coffee.
Anything that causes a strong emotion in people like coffee does, is naturally going to bring out some interesting quotes.
There are a ton of quotes about coffee out there that I’ve heard over the years, but I’ve complied a list of my favorites for you.
I’m going to give you the 10 best ones I’ve heard that always make me want to go find myself another cup of that wonderful brew as fast as possible.
# 1- “Way too much coffee. But if it weren’t for the coffee, I’d have no identifiable personality whatsoever.” – David Letterman
Which coffee lover amongst us has never thought something like this before?
Let them cast the first stone!
I know that for myself, I notice a drastic shift in my personality after I’ve had a good cup of coffee.
I could be totally miserable and lazy before, but after I’m ready to go and conquer the world.
Caffeine is definitely a drug and can have powerful effects on on your personality.
# 2- “The morning cup of coffee has an exhilaration about it which the cheering influence of the afternoon or evening cup of tea cannot be expected to reproduce.” –
Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
This times 100 for me.
There’s nothing like the first cup of coffee in the morning (or afternoon).
The day has so much promise and so much potential.
I find the first cup of coffee gives me the most benefits.
Each cup of coffee I have afterwards is always a little disappointing compared to the first one of the day.
# 3- “As soon as coffee is in your stomach, there is a general commotion. Ideas begin to move…similes arise, the paper is covered. Coffee is your ally and writing ceases to be a struggle.”– Honore de Balzac
This is the feeling that motivated me to start Busy Quill Coffee Co.
When you’re a writer, there is no greater ally than coffee.
If you’re not a writer, just take my word on that. It’s seriously magic.
My brain activity could be registering a big zero before coffee, but afterwards I feel like Ernest Hemingway.
# 4- “We want to do a lot of stuff. We’re not in great shape. We didn’t get a good night’s sleep. We’re a little depressed. Coffee solves all these problems in one delightful little cup.” – Jerry Seinfeld
It’s funny because it’s true.
While you may or may not have all of these problems, there isn’t much that coffee doesn’t seem to help with at least a little.
The deeper I get into coffee the more things I find it helpful for.
I’d add one thing about this quote though.
Sometimes one cup isn’t enough. Sometimes you just need two!
# 5- “Among the numerous luxuries of the table…coffee may be considered as one of the most valuable. It excites cheerfulness without intoxication; and the pleasant flow of spirits which it occasions…is never followed by sadness, languor or debility.” -Benjamin Franklin
This quote serves as a reminder that coffee has largely gone unchanged for over 600 years.
We love coffee just as much today as our forefathers did.
There’s no doubt that coffee was behind many of the greatest moments in history.
Can you imagine Benjamin Franklin sipping a few cups of this magical brew while working on the Declaration Of independence? How awesome.
While they may not have had Starbucks, they definitely knew the power of coffee as Franklin sums up so eloquently in this quote.
# 6- “A cup of gourmet coffee shared with a friend is happiness tasted and time well spent.”- Unknown
Coffee serves as a bonding agent for many of us.
We met friends or loved ones over coffee and take a few minutes (or hours) out of our busy day to enjoy their company.
It’s ironic that when we go out for coffee with someone, it slows us down.
It helps us to enjoy the conversation and focus on the important things in life.
Some of the best conversations are had over a cup of coffee.
# 7- “The powers of a man’s mind are directly proportional to the quantity of coffee he drank.”– Sir James MacKintosh
I can’t sit there and drink ten cups of coffee, but I can definitely drink a few.
I laughed a bit when I heard this quote.
While Sir MacKintosh was probably exaggerating a bit, coffee definitely does seem to grab a hold of that mind power we wouldn’t otherwise be able to locate.
There have been many times that I’ve directly attributed the coffee I drank to the quality of writing I was able to put out.
# 8- “Black as the devil, hot as hell, pure as an angel, sweet as love.”- Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord
What a name.
Also, what a great description for what coffee should be.
This gentleman was certainly a fan of a quality cup of coffee.
If you can find coffee that accomplishes all these things, you’ve certainly found something special.
# 9- “It’s amazing how the world begins to change through the eyes of a cup of coffee.”- Donna A. Favors
It’s quite amazing isn’t it?
After a cup of coffee, things certainly do begin to change.
The world seems brighter.
The day seems to have more promise.
Your brain begins to wake up.
There are not too many things that coffee makes worse.
In fact, I can’t think of a single one.
# 10- “As long as there was coffee in the world, how bad could things be?” – Cassandra Clare
Coffee is one thing that will always be there for us when we’re having a bad day.
It’s hard and scary to imagine a world without coffee.
Luckily, it’s not something you will probably ever deal with unless you run out of coffee at your house!
Good thing there is a coffee shop on almost every corner is most modern countries.
Nobody should have to go too long without it!
Words are powerful.
I love all kinds of quotes.
A good quote just always seems to put things into perspective.
There are many quotes out there about coffee, but these are some of my favorites.
Writing this has definitely given me the craving for more coffee!
Who else wants a cup?
